This has been a crazy couple of weeks. Physical Wiki Weekend was a smashing success but the work isn't done yet. We still need to do the floor of the cafe and the whole joint needs a coat of paint. If there are still a few volunteers out there looking for an opportunity, please let me know - send an email to jenn@bucketworks.org.
There is some other amazing news. In an incredibly generous act of kindness the owner of Milwaukee's own Solessence and organizer of the fashion extravaganza, Fashion by the Lake has arranged to have some silent auction items donated to us and we're slated to receive a portion of the overall proceeds. Amazing. I can hardly believe it myself.
The week of October 3rd kicks off a month of non-stop events at Bucketworks. It begins with the simultaneous start of both Milwaukee Fashion Week and BarCampMilwaukee3. Both events run through October 5. The next weekend the Milwaukee Spotlight Film Festival runs it's screenings of the 2008 winners. We received over 60 entries from across the country and I can't wait for the final round of screens so I can get an advanced peek.
The following weekends are purely Bucketworks. On October 18th, we'll be hosting our grand opening as we newly re-open our space after the flooding. It'll be an extravaganza of our professional members, organizational members, and corporate members getting a chance to show off their chops. And on October 26th, we'll be hosting a member movie night with a ZOMBIE PUPPET SHOW and then... the weekend of November 1st... the only haunted house in the city of Milwaukee. We're so excited and we hope you are too.
So
What's going on around here?
The final Bayshore Summer Movie Night is
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Be at the Square near Devon's at Dusk and enjoy this classic film with the whole family!

Saturday, October 4 10:00am BarCampMilwaukee3 BarCamp is an un-conference; An open format event where programmers, designers and business owners can network and learn. A BarCamp conference is unlike any other technology conference. Rather than being planned by a committee in advance, each community works together to create its own event. A BarCamp generally has an underlying theme, but the individual topics and sessions are organized shortly before or even at the event. This enables BarCamp to be much more than targeted to the needs of the Milwaukee community.
Saturday, October 11 time TBA Milwaukee Spotlight is the first and only organization dedicated solely to helping youth in Wisconsin, beyond, express their visions and their voices through film and to showcase their accomplishments in an annual festival.
